Together in the development of science and economy: the Institute for Artificial Intelligence Research and Development of Serbia and Continental - the leader in the field of the automotive industry

It's also the first major step in the realization of the Institute's mission to contribute to the cooperation of science and industry and accelerate the transfer of technology in Serbia.

This agreement was signed by Dr. Dubravko Ćulibrk, Director of the Institute, and Sasha Cioringa, General Manager of Continental Automotive Serbia on Monday, August 2, 2021.

On that occasion, Dr. Ćulibrk stated that the Cooperation Agreement is a very important step for the Institute because it enables future researchers to focus on problems of great practical importance from the very beginning.

"I am very pleased that the first activity of our institute in cooperation with the industry is the signing of a contract with a successful international company like Continental. In this way, we will enable our researchers to transfer their knowledge into commercial solutions to further develop the field of artificial intelligence. We will also support innovative global companies that are active in Serbia. These are definitely the priorities of the newly established Institute. I am sure that we will improve the field of AI in Serbia, guided by the common vision”, pointed out Dr. Ćulibrk.

On the eve of the signing, Sasha Cioringa, General Manager of Continental Automotive Serbia, said the following: “In recent years, the automotive industry has used more and more solutions in the field of artificial intelligence, especially when it comes to autonomous driving. Our vision at Continental Automotive Serbia is to dictate trends and be the best at what we do, and our engineers already are. We are happy to have started cooperation with the Institute for Artificial Intelligence Research and Development of Serbia and we are sure that together we will be even more successful in the international automotive market."

Continental Automotive Serbia is currently mainly developing solutions for passenger and commercial vehicles in the Vehicle Networking and Information (VNI) department. This includes a wide range of products such as instrument panels, radars, cameras, control units for remote monitoring of vehicle positions and parameters, access systems based on vehicle access using smartphones or remote unlocking, the control unit for operating electrical systems in the vehicle, web infrastructure services based on mobile applications and the main innovative project for highly autonomous driving of passenger and commercial vehicles. At the Research and Development Center in Novi Sad, more than 600 engineers are currently working on the development of the most innovative technologies for the automotive industry.

The cooperation between scientific research and business will include, among other things, the implementation of joint scientific research projects, product development and production programs, and joint work on commercial and EU-funded projects.
