Serbia was unanimously chosen as a member of the Global Partnership for Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) during its third annual conference, held in Tokyo.
To be accepted to the Global Partnership for AI, a government must demonstrate progress in the creation of artificial intelligence as well as a commitment to responsible AI development. This year, only four states did so. Turkey, Argentina, and Senegal have joined the GPVI in addition to Serbia. Our country is the first in the region to join this international organization, and as a result of participation, it has access to the most recent trends in artificial intelligence, as well as the potential to contribute to the creation of technology that will define the economy's future.
According to the characteristics that reflect how prepared a country's government is to employ AI in its job and in the delivery of public services, Serbia is placed 52nd out of 172 nations for the year 2021. Let us remind you that our country adopted the AI Development Strategy in 2019, just two years after Finland did.
“AI is one of the most significant technologies in today's world since it influences economic growth, job creation, and innovation support", says Prof. Dr. Dubravko Ćulibrk, acting director of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence Research and Development of Serbia.
According to his statements, international cooperation is critical in this subject in order to facilitate research and enhance initiatives. Details regarding Serbia's membership to the Global Partnership for AI may be found in the daily newspaper "Politika".
