"I personally have no worry that technology will replace humanity due to our limitations. The purpose of technology advancement is to make people's lives easier. If robots do "replace" humans at any task, the process is often slow, initially leading to improvements in the efficiency with which individuals execute their activities and the working-age population retraining for "better" jobs. It is in our technology development's nature to explore ways to release people from risky and hard tasks.
I believe that the advancement of automation, artificial intelligence, and the IT industry offers a far bigger potential for our country than a threat, and that we should constantly focus on education, as well as the quantity of highly educated individuals and the quality of all levels of education. Higher education as it exists now, and the availability of materials available to anybody who wants to learn something, cannot be compared to the condition that existed before to the emergence of the Internet.
Perhaps education, like science, is a sector in which, without advanced technologies, the kind of development we have seen at the global level in the last few decades would not have been possible", says Prof. Dr. Dubravko Ćulibrk, Acting Director of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia.
In an interview with the acting director of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence Research and Development of Serbia for the portal Nezavisnost.org, learn more about the development of artificial intelligence in Serbia, its benefits and limitations, as well as the creation of new jobs and an economy based on knowledge and innovation.
