Agreement on cooperation signed with the City of Belgrade

Dr. Dubravko Ćulibrk, Director of the Institute, pointed out that the vision of the Institute is to become a center of excellence for research in the field of artificial intelligence and also for technology transfer.

"Since we are based on information technologies, we have a much larger group of partners abroad that we also want to involve in research for our people and our industry. Of course, the goal in the end is to create a knowledge-based economy, but through the application of artificial intelligence", Ćulibrk added.

According to him, artificial intelligence is considered a technology with widespread application, just like electricity. "If we adopt it too late, we may fall behind economically. On the other hand, if we do it faster and better than others, we have a chance to do something good for all of us", Ćulibrk stressed.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Ana Brnabić stated that exports in the IT sector of the Serbian economy will amount to almost two billion euros this year and the surplus will exceed one billion euros. The Prime Minister congratulated the signatories and noted that they have shown exceptional initiative to design a project that will improve the quality of life of all citizens of Belgrade.

As she said, we are once again establishing ourselves as leaders in new technologies and modernization of public administration at the national and local levels. She added that we are always looking for additional capacities for Serbia's growth, stressing that the development of artificial intelligence has been identified as a timely opportunity.

The Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development, Branko Ružić, expressed his belief that this is a great day for Belgrade, the Artificial Intelligence Institute of Serbia and the Belgrade Science and Technology Park, as well as for the implementation of artificial intelligence in all parts of our society, making life easier and not dehumanizing it.

Cooperation with the Institute for Artificial Intelligence will certainly help to further improve the concept of the "Smart City", said the Mayor of Belgrade, Prof. Dr. Zoran Radojičić.

He also recalled that the "Oko sokolovo" service is an example of the application of artificial intelligence, which is already working and making progress.
