Experts in the field of ICT from the scientific environment and the economy from around the world are members of the newly established Advisory Board of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia.
Among them is Prof. Dr. Nicu Sebe, who is known in the professional community and beyond, as a scientist who has decoded the emotions hidden behind the Mona Lisa's mysterious smile using emotion recognition software.
Analysing the portrait of a woman with mysterious emotions - a masterpiece by Renaissance painter Leonardo da Vinci, he developed software that analyses facial features by interpreting the emotions behind her enigmatic smile. His results showed that the Mona Lisa is predominantly happy - 83%, and 9% horrified, 6% frightened and 2% angry, which generated a lot of interest in this area of AI among experts. Prof. Sebe accomplished this while working at the University of Amsterdam and in collaboration with the University of Illinois.
Prof. Sebe joined the Institute's Advisory Board because he recognised the potential of our experts, as well as our country's investment in supporting the development of this field, based on many years of fruitful cooperation and numerous projects he has conducted with Serbian professors. He has also collaborated with the acting director of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence Dr. Dubravko Ćulibrk.
"The Institute will have groups for computer AI, language understanding, health applications, mathematical foundations for machine learning, and a group for emerging areas. For this reason, we have created a mentorship program with our collaborators from around the world. The Advisory Board in this composition of experts with extraordinary knowledge and global experience will ensure that we become a place that provides Serbian researchers with the best framework for development and constantly shows innovation", concludes Dr. Ćulibrk.
In addition to Professor Sebe, the Advisory Board also includes lecturers, researchers and renowned scientists from universities such as Columbia University, Temple University and the Technical University of Munich. The Advisory Board also includes representatives from global companies that are leaders in the field of AI.
Among them is Saša Ostojić, one of the operating partners of the Playground Global Fund, who will contribute with his thirty years of experience in leading positions in Silicon Valley companies.
